Blossom Session - Mini session info {York PA}

Hi there! It is almost Friday! Just dropping in to mention that I only have one spot available for cherry blossom sessions. It is that time of year again where I stalk the trees in York for these amazing blossoms! As a child and family photographer, I am always searching for the best locations to shoot at. This is the perfect spot for children, family and maternity sessions.

 Here is a look at a couple images taken four years ago of my children. My Mama heart can't deal! We have been coming to this spot for years and each spring I wait and wait for these blossoms. I hope you all enjoy these as much I do. It is really special to me that I have these of my kids because every year when spring comes, I make sure we get to this spot so it's really sentimental for me to keep doing it. I guess I am also partial to this location because it just looks like a regular place any other time of the year but one week in April or May when these bloom, it is just so magical! I feel like I've found a hidden treasure.

Well Hello Gorgeous! Teen/ Tween portrait session {Overlook Park in Lancaster county}

I really wanted to write this blog post and I am excited that the edits on these images are done! This was a new opportunity for me and a pretty cool way to give back to the community. I am in tons and tons of Facebook photography groups and in one particular group, I saw that another photographer needed help so I jumped at the chance to assist however I could! Kate Martin is a fellow photographer from Lancaster County and thought of this whole idea. Kate planned to host a photo session for all of her church youth group girls. She has been working with the girls to teach them self esteem and thought that what better way to show these girls that they are beautiful on the outside than to help them get pampered for a photo shoot. We wanted the girls to see their images and feel beautiful and confident. I would have loved to have this when I was in my awkward teenage years! But since it was a huge undertaking the day of the photo shoot, Kate needed another photographer to divide and conquer.  There were nine girls total and the park we used was huge so if there had only been one photographer, it would have taken a lot longer. On one Saturday evening in April, we teamed up at Overlook Park in Lancaster. I was happy to help to offer my services and it was a super cool way to stretch my abilities. My daughter came with me to watch and all the girls thought was she super cute! These pictures in the blog post were all taken by myself. Kate also took lots and lots of images which the parents were able to view through an online gallery. I really enjoyed doing this project. Older kids listen a lot better than little kids too, ha. Hope everyone loves these! Thank you for stopping.

Easter pictures {personal share}

Each Holiday I try to do a photo shoot with my kids.  Sophia and Ryan are always willing participants too! I like to do these sessions with them when I can because it is such a good way to stretch my creativity. Also this helps me prepare in case I decide to do mini sessions surrounding the theme. The more difficult part is deciding whether or not to plan and advertise things like this to the public because the weather is really a huge factor in my plans. My kids are usually my models for things like this so that is why you see so many pictures of Sophia and Ryan. I like to try new spots out for different holidays. Last year for Easter, I just took a quick snapshot of my kids in the backyard with their Easter baskets but this year I really wanted a challenge. As a children and family photographer, I will scout out places almost weekly to check on how things look. Here is the Easter image that I took last year of my children...they were so tiny!

This year  on Easter I tried something more artistic. I had trouble with the colors when I was editing but overall I feel like the pictures look more professional compared to the year before and that is always the goal! I love the spring time vibe these images portray as well!

Children's mini session in winter {York Haven PA}

Winter time never seems short enough but in February we got a nice break from the low temps and took a walk around our block one evening. I used my long lens to help with these because all we used as backdrops were the fire station and an old garage door!  Kind of neat how they have a little bit of an urban feel. Now that it is April and still 40 degrees, I am itching to get back outside. It seems like winter will never end. I have a lot of plans for cherry blossom sessions and am going to check on the trees later tonight and see if the frost affected them. Stay tuned if you want a spring session with me! I have one session taking place in May and will start to get busy soon. There are two families who won giveaway sessions from me and I will be setting things up with them in May or June if everything goes well with the weather!

Ryan is now three and a half years old and Sophia is seven and a half years old.  Ryan is never short of personality and people used to comment all the time that Sophia had the best smile. I am very blessed to have adorable kids. Sophia is getting really good at dramatic plays and musicals and has a nice singing voice. I only have one image here of her in this post because it was getting chilly again since the sun had set and that is all I got of her! Ryan was very cooperative for me and put on a show so I kept shooting. Enjoy!

Miss. Soph! She was pretty tired after a long day at school. Always so pretty. I feel like since this picture, she has grown a ton and looks older now.

Valentine Mini Photo Shoot {York, PA}

In the winter months when things slow down, I take the opportunity to photograph my kids inside our home. This year I have been taking pictures almost every day for a project that I am working on, so the Valentines holiday was no exception! I enjoy playing with the light that comes in my windows but also feel anxious to have warmer weather and begin booking clients for family photography sessions.

These are just quick snaps of my children so they are oh so sweet!
