Children's portraits in the home setting {in York, PA}

Hello! I wanted to share a couple pictures that I found on my computer. From time to time, I go through my files and try to delete some that are terrible, whether they are blurry, out of focus or poorly exposed. Occasionally I will find some images that, for one reason or another, I did not edit or thought they just did not turn out. I'm glad I found these. It really makes me appreciate the summer light. It's winter now and very rarely do I find such strong light hit this side of my house. The month that these were taken was September 2015. Ryan was such a tiny squishy little baby. It makes me remember once again why I'm obsessed with babies. Because the time in which they are so little will not last long and in a second they are toddlers and loose that baby chub. Sophia had such a round little face, and I miss that. So, Enjoy!

December {in York, PA}

Hello! I hope that everyone is having a good start to the year. I know that December is in the past but I absolutely have to show some photos of my family from December and somehow I am just now getting around to blogging these. I will blame it on the endless sickness we have had, but we're getting better! Let me begin with a few before photos that I took before Christmas....

When I was thinking about our Christmas cards, I thought it would be nice to have a portrait of Sophia on the card. I had an idea to drive down Market Street in the City of York and attempt something with the huge Christmas tree right there at the square as my backdrop. Finding adequate parking was tricky because I didn't want us to have to walk very far in the cold. Getting a photo that I consider a keeper was also very difficult because I had to move Sophia around a lot before I felt like I was going to get something with nice composition and it was so cold! Most street photography is done with a long lens to help the background look blurry. Here I was using my 85mm lens. I love it! And most of all my beautiful daughter is the perfect model!

You all know I love a good portrait of my two kids together. I used this one on our Christmas cards as well.

On Christmas Eve we went to the square in Hanover to see Santa. Seeing Santa might have been free to the public but we earned it because of how cold it was that night! Our kids just kept waiting for the line to keep moving and eventually we got to the beginning of the line after about 50 minutes. Oh and also I have to say that because it was night time, these photos are very noisy. I do not use flash.

They had huge cannons which provided for some climbing while we waited, and waited......

And then we got to the cabin where Santa was and naturally Ryan wanted nothing to do with him until he bribed Ryan with some snacks...haha

Um, Dad, can you come get me?

We told her to tell Santa what she wanted for Christmas, ha.

There they are, so happy!

On Christmas Day, we stayed home. It was nice and relaxing to do things when we wanted to with no particular schedule. I dressed Sophia and Ryan up and they were so patient with me as I made my coffee and grabbed my camera.

Sophia LOVED her Our Generation girl doll from Target. She was elated and so surprised!

My Mom got them the 'Finding Dory' DVD & I got Ryan a little baby doll.

Ryan got a Nerf gun. Of course he loved it!

Soph loved the Barbie and horse that she opened.

Since Ryan loves to hit things, I thought it would be a good idea to get him a tool set. ha!

My sister Bre and her boyfriend Zach got them pets. Yes, pretend pets, not the real thing, thank goodness, lol!

Griffin Family- Fall Session in York, Pa

Hi All! Today I wanted to catch up on blogging because I am little behind. I hope everyone had a great Holiday! I want to blog all of my own Christmas pictures soon....I should do that before the New Year, right? We'll see if I have time for that, LOL! But really, it is hard to sit and write and not be distracted.

So today I am showing everyone the pictures that I took at Allison and Andrew's family session. I have taken pictures for the Griffin family for two years! I appreciate their loyalty to my business and it's nice to hear how much Allison loves my pictures! This session was special because we met at a farm near York, Pa, and it looked incredible! Let me start with Allison's favorite photo of her family

Family session {at Stillmeadow Park in York, PA}

Today I have a few photos to show you all from a family session that I had several weeks ago. I photographed The Boyer family one lovely fall evening in September. Becky is a photographer as well, so I was pretty pleased that she hired me. As a family and children photographer, typically when a client books a date with me, I start thinking about the location weeks prior to the shoot. Finding the perfect spot for my photoshoots prepares me to best fit the family's needs and match the images to my brand. After I considered various parks in the area, I ended up shooting their session at one of my favorite spots- Stillmeadow Park in York, Pennsylvania. Here are a few images from that lovely fall evening during golden hour! The first pose was set up at the adorable bridge. The walking trail runs right through it!

I love a good black and white! I'm pretty picky about my conversions but the light provided gorgeous contrast which is so necessary for a black and white image.

I loved the long shadows in this one!

Lacey turns three! {Birthday photos at Stillmeadow Park, York PA}

Happy Monday, everyone!! I photographed Lacey this summer for her birthday- she turned three in August! Talk about a big girl!! Lacey nailed every pose that we tried at our birthday mini session and is quickly getting used to being behind the lens! Our birthday session took place at one of my favorite parks in York, Pennsylvania. I use this park a lot for my children and family sessions and I just love it for it's beautiful scenery and lighting. For this session with Lacey, I provided some balloons, and Allison (Lacey's Mommy), brought the tee shirt with the number "3"  on it for Lacey to wear.

Lacey is so cute and I love having her as a model for Bonnets & Bow Ties Photography! She was my model once before when we met at a Wildflower field in Lititz, PA; I still have people visit my blog and view those sessions and mention how pretty the flowers look. You can view Lacey's Wildflower field session here. Last summer I photographed Allison's family for their family portraits, and they will be meeting me again for their Fall pictures when the leaves turn into their rich Autumn colors! I cannot wait to work with the Griffin Family again!

Let me show you a few shots from the birthday session.
